Ruas is known for his pulverizing leg kicks and methodical, relentless attack. He is considered, alongside the Gracie family, to be one of Brazil’s most famous martial artists. He gained a large fan following after several memorable bouts with "The Russian Bear” Oleg Taktorov. Ruas now makes his home in Laguna Niguel, California
